Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District and BetterLesson are partnering to offer two pathways to professional development this spring. Each pathway offers a suggested progression of sessions around a common theme:

  • Pathway 1 – Culture of Success: Practices to Support and Develop Student Engagement
  • Pathway 2 – Blended Learning: Leveraging Tech and Digital Routines For Student Engagement

Educators are invited to sign up for any individual topics of interest (even if they are not all from the same pathway), and none of the topics below have "prerequisite" sessions. Participants can choose as many sessions as they like.

Note that you will need to RSVP for EACH individual session you'd like to join on the Better Lesson website. Once your RSVP has been recorded in the BetterLesson Lab, you will receive automated reminder emails with the check-in links needed to join the sessions.

NCI is considered the worldwide standard for crisis prevention and intervention training.  With a core philosophy of providing for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone involved in a crisis situation, the program’s proven strategies give education the skill to safely and effectively respond to anxious, hostile, or violent behavior.

Please note: If full certification is desired, a hands on training to practice and demonstrate mastery of restrictive (physical) interventions will be needed upon returning from distance learning. During the physical interventions portion, please wear closed toe shoes and comfortable attire.

Prior to training, participants will need to complete a two-hour online module, and pick up NCI workbook from Special Education in the District Office. A link and code will be provided by Special Education to complete the online module.
